Hospital Financing Waiver
The Schwarzenegger Administration announced a five-year hospital financing agreement with the federal government in June 2005, which changes the payment methodology for California's safety-net hospitals. Enacted legislation provides a framework for implementing the new waiver, allowing California to pay approximately $2 billion in federal funds in the first year to the state's 146 safety-net hospitals.
