Health Care Financing

National health care expenditures have risen dramatically in the last ten years, projected to reach $1.8 trillion in 2004. The amount spent per person from all sources has increased by 72 percent since 1992. The L.A. County Department of Health Services (DHS) is facing a significant budget deficit projected of nearly $1 billion by 2008, which threatens to reduce severely the level of health care services for the uninsured.
